I think one of the most amazing places that I have been to would be Alaska. I went on a cruise with my family and thought, oh this ought to be fun. But, nothing prepared me for how awesome it would be. Even though, it was freezing at times I loved staying outside and looking at everything. My favorite part of this trip was being able to see something that I have never seen before, a glacier.

As we moved along in the ship we would pass pieces of a glacier that had broken off of the glacier itself. Here is a picture of a smaller glacier surround by the deep turquoise colored water.

As we approached the bigger glacier it was just stunning to look at. For quite awhile we passed by this huge wall-like glacier. How about a closer look?

Kind of reminded me a little bit of Superman’s home. (Just had to get a little humor in there.)

One of the things that I learned about glaciers is that because they are melting they are starting to break apart little by little. You can hear the glacier actually cracking. Then, what is called calving happens. This is where part of the glacier falls into the water and starts to float away. The picture below was taken right after part of the glacier fell into the water.

Well our little adventure to Alaska must end here. I hope that you have enjoyed this little adventure.
Until next time….
